    I am a 28 year old former infantry marine with two tours to Iraq in 2004 and 2005. I am in great shape. I have no spouse or children. I have no arrests, and 10 year clean MVR. I will be starting my 3 week Class A course in 3 weeks and graduating December 30th. I would like to drive up in the oilfields of North Dakota.

    Is my best option to just fly into Dakota and find a job when I get there? My only vehicle is a 2002 Suzuki SV650, so I won't be taking that. I don't need much and I just wanna bust my ### and make some good money. I would just like some recommendations on the best way to get a job in the oilfields up there.

    I will only have about $1,500 when I get there as school took most of my savings. I don't care about living conditions or anything of the sort. I just want to get on with a good company and work. If you don't think North Dakota will work with my situation, please recommend another oilfield. Thanks a bunch.

    sign up and apply. If you go there without a car - hell, if you go there with a car you're screwed because it's so cold right now - you're screwed because there is no housing. Hotels are reserved for months and, if you do find housing, they're charging 1500-3000/month for rent. Some companies have dorms on site, but some of them don't.

    I would definitely apply to some places and get a job before going there. Especially without a vehicle. You have time, anyways, seeing as how getting your CDL is still a month-and-a-half away.

    A lot of the jobs i have seen said you need to bring a car. youll have to get your self to work every day i am guessing.

    My father has a 2008 chevy 2500 with a sleeper camper on the back. I might be able to talk him into letting me rent it for 2-3 months until i can get a nice break and buy my own. Is there anywhere to park a truck up there that won't run you off?

    A lot of them are living in the Wal-Mart parking lot; and speaking of Walmart--even Walmart is paying their workers $15+/hour to keep people from detracting into the oil industry.

    Go to youtube and look up North Dakota Walmart or Walmart Williston....they're living in that parking lot whether there is a sign up or not.

    I do not have to go to youtube. I have been on that lot several times.

    I have seen the police there as well.

    There are signs and someday, maybe, it will be enforced again, then where would a person go?

    It's 2011! Your best option would be to get on the computer and get hired before you leave the house! Save you lots of time and money, oh yeah, and driving around in the snow!
