Back on topic, and please act like adults. This is the only warning I will post here. Calling names will get the thread shut down and infractions will follow.

Not to make people mad here,, but bottom line is that your supposed to be a professional truck driver and you know the risk of losing your cdl the first offense.. in some states first time your out and no chance to get it back,, check the georgia law,, so if you wish to have and hold a cdl then dont do drugs or alcohol and your safe,, be a non professional and your out on your butt bottom line,, i have no sympathy for someone who cares to risk theyr cdl and theyr livelyhood or someone elses life,, sorry but thats how i feel..

Well, you probably could using hair samples.. but why?

For most citizens, and ALL CDL holders, it's illegal. WHEN you partook is of less interest to me as an employer than the fact that you did at all. If you'd do something this illegal, what's to stop you from.. oh.. selling fuel out of your tanks, or even selling the load in your trailer? (just random examples)

Or, what's to stop you from partaking again tomorrow, just before you turn the key in my $100-Thousand rig and maybe squashing that high school cheerleader in her brand new Saturn Sky?

As an employer, I'm not about to take that risk

MJ can stay in your system for 30 days with just a small amount. If you want to drive, don't smoke!! I suspect, the alcohol, lowered your inhibitions and you stupidly did something you wouldn't normally do. Unfortunately, you have to live with the consequences. Perhaps you shouldn't drink and then you wouldn't smoke.

I agree with Lurch....it is illegal...how will the company look at that? Personally I think it should be legal, but it's not and if I"m gonna drive a big truck, I know I can't do it and won't! I need to make a living and I don't want to live in jail.

Some places allow you to go to a rehab program and get back on track. You should check it out.

ohh maybe the fact while ILLEGAL it is not MORALLY WRONG.
well, alcohol is legal? same should apply here, right?
it really is IMO a matter of proving under the influence

Pat - while I actually agree with your sentiments (I think ALL drugs should be legal for recreational use), I was speaking from the point of view of the company who owns the trucks. As, really, I think was made quite plain in my post.

Personal opinion has no place in a situation such as this, when you are the company hiring the driver.

But why take the chance? Almost all the jobs I have had need drug testing, so I never bothered. If I did I would do it when I knew wasn't gonna get screened. When I wasn't working and didn't have CDL. I hardly drink anymore.

let me get this right... live in Denver, but a Wings fan? My, my, you live dangerously. :)

And, of course, since you might get tapped any given day to contribute to the cause, partaking while holding a CDL is particularly stupid, ne?

And (another and!) give up drinking and you'll save a bundle (well, be able to spend it somewhere else, really)
