Recently talked to a local O/Op about running for him, He indicated it was basically up to his insurance company. He said if they will insure you I can put you in a truck. He knows me "not personally" but knows a few drivers that I also know and has seen me on the road probably numerous times so he knows I can handle a truck and I do have a clean MVR.

I am a pre CDL driver and never went to school for driving... I went on the road to learn how to drive with two of my Uncles and my older Brother I never had a CDL, all my experience "except the last year or so running local" was before the current CDL program was mandated and I was not grandfathered in because I was not driving at the time I had to renew so the examiner would not allow me to have the "at the time" NEW CDL. or any endorsements. I was holding a Class IV or "chauffers" license at the time.

Wonder how feasible it would be for an O/Op to be the refresher? He gets to train the driver the way HE likes to do things and gets someone he knows and can trust.

I guess his Insurer just basically laughed me off.. Kindof makes me wonder how my current employer insures me ... we've never spoke of it but apparently he does it somehow or I'd be betting he would not send me down the road in our Company Pete's

The whole refresher thing seems like a good money maker. makes me wonder how many insurers are sleeping with these "so called" schools who offer the refresher courses or vice versa.
