Anybody heard of a new driver with a new MC and DOT number not getting loads off of a load board? I didnt know if the brokers/shippers asked for experience and having a new MC# might keep you from getting a load. Any ideas or experiances? Thanks.

it is a common practice with New authority carriers ,as you gain experience and Good reviews it will no longer be a problem.
-
So, if you can't get loads as a new driver, how do you get experience so you can? Just one of those "logical" questions.
-
You'll get loads. There are a few brokers that won't load you without 1 year on the books, but not as many as you'd think. Better have some operating cash set aside, because you'll probably be running cheap for a while.
-
you will find broker s that load you but May not be the better one s ,usually a 6 month deal till you don't have issues any more.
-
Do they really ask u if your new or not?? Wouldn't u just call and say "I'll take such and such load" and then do the paperwork???
just wondering how it works -
they ask for MC# it shows all, time in business, safety rating, and such.
-
Also it shows me how long you have been a member of the load board one even shows me how many loads you have moved. On ITS it shows your CSA score next to your score A+ A A- B+ B B- and so on. When you click to view a load before you ever call I see everything about you

I have had a broker tell me, "You just have over a 12 month window of experience. If you were under a year, we couldn't load you."
I asked him what difference does it make. He mumbled something about insurance. I dropped it at that point.
Con-Way says they want us to have 3 separate DOT inspections. Uh....Sure. -
it certainly isn't easy,I wouldn't advise trying it until you've been driving at least 5yrs and talking to a business consultant there is a lot to know and learn.
