Well I hung in there and didn't quit after lunch I got a different trainer. Actually 2 different ones because one guy had a meeting to go to. I did pretty well and I did a mock road test but I hit a curb but barely that corner was super tight right turn.
What a day but at least I know I won't have that ###### trainer anymore. 2 more days to go I'm scheduled 930 am Tuesday to test out.Oxbow, SHOJim, tinytim and 1 other person Thank this. -
Once you get out in the real world you can forget that trainer but you will encounter other pressure situations, don't let them throw you off your game.
It gets easier every week. Until you get too confident.Oxbow, Steel Dragon, ladr and 2 others Thank this. -
Anytime you get an opportunity, challenge yourself. I've been doing this long enough I will ALWAYS take the easiest course, but I reached this point only after being involved in enough tough situations over the many years to have learned and honed my skills. Some were necessary with no other options, some were challenge acceptances. I know I can handle the difficult situations. They will come, but I'm ready. Your task should be to reach a point where challenging backs and turns can be managed successfully and without excess stress, and the sooner the better. This will come sooner for some than for others but you will never get to that point if you refuse to attempt more difficult tasks and increase the difficulty level acceptance as you progress through the career. At some point you will reach a place where you have no choice but to take the only and the most difficult path. Your task now is to get ready for that time. Like someone mentioned, once that light bulb goes on over your head, and it "clicks", then it's all downhill from there.

I wasn't going to say a word until I read your post. I really didnt see a point, especially after reading how OP felt like QUITTING and going home. You want to quit? Just because you aren't doing as well as you thought you should? Because it's a bit tougher than you thought? Or because some A Hole sitting in a car screams at you?
How do you people ever succeed? How do you ever get to the top of the mountain when you quit at the VERY FIRST SIGN OF DIFFICULTY? Haven't you done anything challenging in life? There is no way in HELL I'm going to allow some loudmouth stop me from attaining my goals. Quit? Me? That's against my religion.
That A Hole trainer may be doing this stuff on purpose.
At my company, before they allow you to pull the bigger loads, they bring you into HQ and give you an open book test. "Bring whatever you needs to do the job. It's all about OSOW permits and map readings. Well, the guy that was doing the testing was a real 'weiner.' The thing was, in the beginning of the day, your dispatcher would run up to you telling you about a load thats paying good money but has to be picked up that day. So these drivers would try to race through the test so they could leave and get the load. I warned them the day before not to accept any loads until they complete the test.
Frustration would build and half of them would ball the test up, throw it into the garbage and run and grab the load. That WAS the test. So shortsighted...
One day, every one of you will have to go into some big metro area, and do a wrong way down a 1 way multilane, and back down into an alley to a place that was built when Ullysses Grant was president. Hotheaded [motorists one one side, and morons on the sidewalk behind you. The stupid instructor will be child's play.Oxbow, Bob Dobalina, BigBob410 and 3 others Thank this. -
Things worthwhile will be difficult.

I was going to quit because I'm paying for this training and someone flipping out is not helping at all. -
Today went ok drove some and did backing. Went over a curb with my left steer on a real tight left turn downtown in a city area. It wasnt that bad because the curb was one of those that had a ramp opening so it rode up the ramp of the curb and down the ramp on the side of it if that makes sense. I know that fails you on an actual test though. The other 2 guys with me rode over curbs with the tandems. Other then me doing that it was a decent day not great not horrible.
I'm remembering everything I'm doing wrong so I won't do it again.
Backing mostly the offset is still somewhat an issue. My main issue I believe is how much to make that initial bend. Some say count to 3 when starting the hard right and that is when you get on the hard left to swing the tractor around straight with the trailer .Then back straight a bit to get.closer to the hole and swing the tractor back in front and straight back in.
That initial bend of the offset is what screws me up most not sure how much or little I need to do it.
