I’ve been driving dump trucks for 3 years. Half that time Super 10 straight trucks half that time tractor trailer/doubles.

Just landed a local gig in Nor Cal locally hauling 53 footer.

Any tips and suggestions to driving this beast?

Will be doing warehouse drop and hook work, any one with exp know whats its like?

That tractor is the same as the loaded dump truck with loaded trailers on.

Your 53 footer will teach you how it likes to be backed soon enough. Enjoy!

Keep tandem 40 feet or less.
Can not turn as sharp as you can with doubles

You need 27 miles to turn around with one but they back up really nice actually.

They also track really well on the highway. I pull pups most of the time and starting to do doubles more and more. The pups skate all over the #### road behind you while a 53 is just rock rock solid in a straight line.

I had a beaver on my dump pintle. wriggle here wriggle there, shiver and shake. Itch and scratch. #### rattle snake...

And god help you in the eastern coastal morning shower that graces us with a promise of a blazing hot 100 degree lunch hour. That whole rig will just slide and pretzel if you let her.

    A 53? Such a honey.

    But .....

Pleasure and happiness has a other side of the coin if you got a trailer that was abused beyond reason or your tolerance for a few things not quite working today. She will be such a witch and sneak out of your lane and try to clobber someone.

Reefers usually have a deeper pin setting than other types of trailers, so if you keep the tandems Cali legal you would have tp pull a midget trailer to get the same short turning radius
