My only fear is the difficulty of getting a job with a Colorado license while making Texas my home base. Given the current shutdowns how much do you think that will delay the process?

Take your cdl and current medical card to the DMV and they'll take care of it.
Show proof of address and if you have a car, they'll want to see your car registration with Texas address where you live now. They don't always ask for car registration, but sometimes will. That's just one thing they check to make sure you have a Texas address; they don't really care about your car.
All endorsements are good except hazmat. Hazmat has to be done over again when you move from one state to the other.
Edit: there's some drug database you have to register with also. I'll look for that and post it.

To register.
If you get an error message about your cdl information not linking, just try again in a day or so as we are having issues with some state dmv data transfer.Last edited: Mar 21, 2020

I thought they closed the dmv to live transactions and only do online stuff.. unless I misheard on radio ..

Different jurisdictions are doing different things. Some are open, some are closed, and some just closed briefly to deep clean then limit the amount of people in the building at a time.

Gov Abbott ordered all non-essential businesses closed on Fri. Most essential businesses are limiting or stopping people from coming into their buildings. So you might want to check with whatever branch you're planning on going to.
Also FFE, Frozen Food Express might be worthwhile to look at. I think you're gonna need a company that will hire someone with no recent experience and give them a refresher course, unless I misunderstood you and you've been driving for your last co. @TravR1 works for FFE and likes it..
And finding driving job in S Tx isnt hard at all. Just driving down I69 to I2 and look at all the signs.
