Keep us informed. If you have a problem because of the tickets, there are companies that will hire you anyway. Whatever it takes to get started.

Well school starts at 7am central time this morning and festen give them a ring and tell them that I wont be attending this morning. After talking to you guys and my dad that's the smartest thing to do. I also have to be at work tonight at 3 30 pm for my current job. Btw my current job has no idea whats going on. So really not looking forward to telling them im quitting either. Today is gonna be a stressful day. Also got call my pre hire Schneider and tell them I wont be there in 3 weeks as well but I will be there after the next class which will be 6 weeks away. Question do I tell my current Plant Manager that I quit and giving a 3 week notice in a email or in person??? Yes that's right I gotta deal with the big boss cause of my supervisor position that I got promoted to about 1 1/2 years ago. Plant Manager is someone I don't have to deal with often but I did have to deal with him recently when I emailed him about taing 3 days vacation and was denied. hes a pretty professional Christian guy btw. Do I email him the news r go to work early and tell him? Also my current job I have 7 days vacation that somewhere in that 3 week notice I want to use it. How do I throw that in the deal? Btw today I have a new line supervisor that starts at my current job that im suppose to be helping with the new lingo in which I have no problem with that's not the reason im quitting. I have put lots of thought into this for past 6 months and I don't see myself retiring in a factory working my butt off at 60 years old just don't see it. Btw I just turned 36 yesterday and im sure I want a career change and that career change is trucing. Thanks once again. What would you do? How would you play this out if you was me?

Well, it's probably too late for this to be any good, but just in case -

Of course the school said that. You gotta realize the recruiters are SELLING you on the school, and they don't get paid if you don't show up.

Worse than that, the more desperate you are for a job, the less likely you are to quit (so even better if you can't go back to your old job).

But make no mistake, they don't care about what happens to you if you get to school and it doesn't work out. All they care about is filling the seats for the next class, it's a numbers game, they know half the class will go home, they just don't know which half and it doesn't matter to them.

Personally, I would not trust any company that said don't worry about not giving notice, and pressured me into starting immediately. If they don't care about you screwing others, then they won't worry about screwing you, either. Good luck.

Well started school today. Very small group of students only 5 in which that's all they try to train at one time. At lunch they let me go get my SS worked out. Ended up having to go to health department to get shot records in order to get SS card which I found weird. But first thing first did physical,Drug Test and DOT test. And right away started going over the Truckers handbook. I take my CDLS this Thursday so its study study and then study some more. Classes r from 7am till 5 30pm 3 weeks long. PTL trucking recruiter came by at lunch with tacos. Seems like a decent company I may be interested in just in case things doesn't work out with Schneider. So far things look good only 5 students and 2 instructors. Only thing im waiting on now is my hard copy of my DLs. gotta go try memorize the CDL handbook Thanks again guys wish me luck. And anyone know anything about PTL company? Oh and got a friend that drives local and gonna give me some road test in his truck this weekend.

PTL is not bad...more of a second chance company but as you say they are an acceptable back up plan..

one thing you need to know about trucking.....

    always have a backup plan.....

Whats the companys that would hire me anyways? Im trying to get backup plans so far I have a pre hire from Schneider and just put in for PLT which the recruiter that came to r class made PLT was a decent company that only goes back 3 years on the driving record and stuff. trying to get backup plans just in case for some reason my number 1 pick r number 2 pick sends me home during orientation. Cant afford to be out of work to long. Im just trying to get behind the wheel asap and hopefully get lucky and keep it in between the lines my first year without anyone getting hurt r anything like that.

That's me Chinatown - I am in Schneider's tanker training in Houston right now and got hired on as an OTR Bulk Tanker driver for Nashville when I finish training.

Thank you and ethos for all your tanker posts (I read them all)!
