So, last week my company informed me that they're closing their doors next month, which means I'll have to find another job. I recently ordered my DAC report and saw that my previous trucking company put down that I was terminated, although I resigned. They did, however, say that I am eligible for rehire, and my work record was satisfactory. Should I bother trying to dispute this, or should I just leave it alone since it's been almost 5 years since I left this company?

I have no accidents/incidents of any kind anywhere as well as a clean PSP and Clearinghouse. I just don't want to travel hundreds of miles to a company's orientation just to be sent home empty-handed because of this. What would you all do in this situation?

You can disput it. Me? If it comes up in an interview, I'm going to tell the prospective employer all the details. That I was not terminated, I resigned voluntarily.

    Good luck!

So, if I do decide to dispute this, how would I go about doing that?

You would have to contact DAC, and dispute it. Probably the same way you ordered your report, I've never had to do that.

You can challenge the incorrect entry and it costs nothing to do so. DAC/HireRight is covered by same laws a credit bureaus and you have same rights to challenge, change, free copy, and DAC allows you, IF YOU FOLLOW THE RULES EXACTLY, to submit a brief statement and that statement will be given to everyone making an inquiry about your record. YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW THE RULES EXACTLY. Also, it usually takes 15 days whether you do this online or by mail. Home | HireRight Candidate Support

Look in upper right corner for Get Help and click on it. It will take you to the rules and how to dispute an entry, and include a statement, and get a free copy. All that matters is do you follow those rules or do you not follow those rules. So follow those rules and get the entry corrected or removed. If they won't correct or remove, then leave your statement (that isn't 1 letter longer than allowed) to be shared with employers looking at your report. Your statement shold be almost only facts and clear and brief. You aren't writing a history book and nobody wants to read a soap opera. It means a lot to you, but to everyone else in the process its just some words.

You're eligible for Rehire, so it can't be that bad.

Right...Not to mention they've actually reached out to me asking if I'd like to go back to them... I would consider it if they didn't have driver-facing cameras
