I was going to put my application into the TDI/cdi school in oxford, al. They claim that the school only costs $200-$300. How can that possibly be? I've looked into it more and really can't find anything, please does anyone have info on this???

Probably some guy with one truck, taking your money to go the the DMV with his truck for you to road test and fail.

Any "schooling" at that price, I'd stay away from.

Now too, it is highly possible, that was the down payment money you needed to sign the papers, or the weekly payments or the monthly payments.

is this the school you speak of?

A few states offer courses for $99 so they can collect from the state , but that course is only a hour long .

But they will also offer add ons for more hours etc.

Basically its a scam to collect more state money and avoid certain regulations , offer a very ###### course for $99 and then the real course as a add on for another $4000

I'll try to find the YouTube video later which explains it better

I'm looking at going to TDI in Milton, FL and the way they explained it to me was the $300 is what you need to start the school and covers DMV records, background check, books, and the fee to get your CDL.

The full cost of the school once you are done is around $4,900 which you can get a loan from TDI or pay out of pocket. I haven't seen the loan paperwork yet but from the research I've done on here it is a high interest rate of around 15% to 18%.

If you do not have the money for the school you can look into getting a WIA grant that will cover up to $5,000 for school. It takes about two to three weeks after applying to see if you qualify. Here is the link for Alabama. www.adeca.alabama.gov/divisions/wdd/pages/grantprograms.aspx#WIA

Another driver that used to post on here also went to TDI in Milton. He was hired by CTL Transportation. Excellent way to get his career started making good money. You're also in the hiring area for SVTN which is another of those $60K+ annual pay companies that hire new CDL grads.

The financial aid person at the school will be more than happy to seek out ways for you to attend that school. Low cost loans, federal grant monies, maybe even state educational monies. Let an expert help you, and in the mean time, YES, do some additional searching your self!

I'm looking to start at TDI as well but looking to get approved for WIA first. Hoping two to three weeks is all that it takes, just been waiting on the lady that does it here to call me back.
