Yea the biggest thing I missed about Atlanta, you could get some great westerly runs out of there but Im retired now so it doesnt really matter anymore. That was the only thing I didnt like about here at first-you spend a lot of time in the northeast running from here. I had a great run out of Atlanta to Dallas, did that for 8 years just back and forth. Loved that but the company sold out to Canada after NAFTA passed.
Not taking the ATL bypass

I live in Atlanta. I haven't been driving very long, but I have been a tiny bit of an outlaw in some ways. "No trucks over 6 wheels" signs be dammed for all I care. I'm not going to make traffic worse by sitting in line behind the rest of these semi-truck driving slowpokes sorry. The ol N14 spends a lot of time in the far 2 left lanes believe it or not. Then again I drive a tandem dump truck locally so we aren't real truckers anyway right
oh well they'll just have to catch me
-
Not with me it does not.
You cannot have a truck in the downtown core of Atlanta legally without a BOL designating a address specific to downtown itself for shipping or delivery. If you don't have this then I think it's a nice fine and other things they can do to you.
I hate to be difficult, Atlanta has been banning trucks for as long I can remember since I started.
The only time I have atlanta as a shipping or delivery point is a Safeway distribution on the I-20 and south about 10 blocks past the girly bars in the NW and that's outside of the beltway there. I don't think Safeway exists anymore.
I stopped relying on Atlanta for anything since the last go around at the Bankhead Petro there on the west side of the beltway. Two individuals gave me a hard time at the fuel line with a sob story that is easily faked for those without critical thinking. I consider them parasites and not worth the somewhat higher threat of violence down there anymore. -
Done it a few times !!!IluvCATS Thanks this.

If I remember that all started when they hosted olympics in 80s and left in force.
IluvCATS Thanks this. -
Yep: a few times: I was lucky.. got away with it: but those lanes downtown used to be pretty skinny...... lol

Please stay on the west coast. Atlanta has enough foreigners.

I don't remember what become out of it, but I remember hearing where the State had designated the MCCD enforcement officers to enforce the HOV laws. This has to be close to 10 years ago.
-
As @MACK E-6 mentioned, another member recently posted a thread sharing his recent experience. He was ticketed because the HOV lane does not count as a lane. This was specifically in Atlanta.IluvCATS, stwik and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this.

Atlanta has express lanes too. Some are divided, some not. I know they don't count, but I hope my stupid face works.
