I see a lot of truck stops that are not that full on the weekends. Sunday they usually start filling up because drivers are coming in to get set up for their Monday deliveries.

But I've never worked somewhere that all I did was sit around on the weekends. Where I'm at now, we don't have weekend dispatchers. But almost all companies I've worked for, as soon as I would get comfortable somewhere thinking I'm going to be laid over, they call me out on a load or have me do a repower.

I do enjoy when I'm on a load that has enough time to take the weekend off and deliver on Monday. But that's not all that common. I usually get my time off and restarts at various times of the week. I can never count on having Sunday off.

Many warehouses or delivery places aren't even open to recieve on Sundays....

I'm not sure what kind of freight or lanes you run...but I very very very rarely get delivery or load appts on Sunday...

Usually weekend dispatch takes over Friday at 5:00 pm...and they don't dispatch nothing, or very rarely....now remember...I'm
    talking primarily over the road...

If I gave you a full list...it would make your head dizzy...

But...I have worked for Schneider, Werner, Boyd brothers...and I will stop there...

As I don't want to leave a trail of embarracement...

As of right now...I work for a owner operator...and deal with primarily port freight...(containers)...twic badge...all that stuff....

Where I work now...you get to see what each load generates...and that's why my eyes have been opened...so to speak....

The only way I can stay in this industry is to get my own truck, trailer...and kick butt....

And only have to work 5-7 months out of the year...when you have your own truck and trailer...no one can tell you when to work...or how much experience you need or any of that crap...you are your own boss...

And if anything, can hire someone to work for you....

Owner operators love me...cause i treat their trucks right, I never hardly ever complain...I'm even tempured...and a reasonable soul....

The world of owner operators is a totally different world than that of mainstream driving companies...

I know a millionare owner operator who gave me his number...he will be retiring at the age of 51...and he's in good health...I met him at a pilot and he talked me to death...

There are a lot of successful drivers out there...but you would never know it, unless you initiate conversation...you have walked past millionares, and didn't even know it...

That's cause their workers...not playboys...if they were playboys they would probablly be broke....

I would wager that I worked about 70 of the 75 or so Sundays I was employed as an OTR driver. Most drivers, myself included at the time, leave the house sometime Sunday afternoon or evening for the very common Monday morning delivery.
