Well actually they could, I would agree that they will not. But really its just scheduling. OTR or local companies do what is best and convenient for them and seldom do they even consider the drivers.

Drivers seem to thing getting screwed and being pushed around makes them more macho or some such crap. But none the less they thrive on getting the short end of the stick.

This is so ridiculious that this conversation is still going on...

Has any ever heard of a 34 hour reset?
Again...ot drivers...pretty much do what they want anyhow...as long as they make their delivery appt on time...the companies could care less what you do on Sunday...

For instance...I've gotta be somewhere at 730 am on Monday morning....it's up to me to either leave on Sunday eve or early Monday morning...it's my choice....

With driving...it's not like your on a clock...your pay has already been determined ahead of time...so you can do whatever you want with that time inbetween...

Unless of course you work for like Ups or Fedex or yellowfreight or Union or some other specialty driving...

Not sure if you're question has been answered or not. But I do know of one company who "used" to allow you to shut down on Sundays.

You'll have to contact the recruiters to see if it is still allowed.

SRT aka Southern Refrigerated out of Texarkana.

Not the best company in the world to work for. But they did allow Sunday shut downs at one time.

Keep in mind though some companies are not 7 day a week operations either. I've worked one Sunday here in 7 years and that was due to the Mid-Atlantic snow back in February. We can pick up extra runs on Sunday night if we choose to but nobody is forced - it will be covered Saturday or early Monday morning if no night line-haul drivers want the run on Sunday night..

I know that there is a driver for Star Transportation out of Nashville, TN who is Jewish and observes the Sabbath, so his driving stops at (I believe) 6PM or sundown on Saturday. He's been there for some years (if he's still there), and had few problems to speak of.

But lupe, you also inquired about how long it would take to achieve "50K" in trucking. WHAT are you looking for??? Sounds like you want it all, with a cherry on top, hand-delivered on white linen over a silver tray.

    lupe Thanks this.

Actually, $50k with Sundays off is not that unrealistic. That's less than 2700 miles a week at some companies. Less than 2200 at others, depending on your rate of pay.

I'll make close to $45k this year, with weekends off. Not just Sunday.

OK, but look at the years you have behind you in this business, dan. I'm sure your situation is because of the "dues" you paid all those years.

I now work for Bluelinx (which is a national company with local branches all over the country) and you are guaranteed off EVERY SUNDAY.

    My point exactly.

Lupe has been posting different inquiries all over the place. Now, requesting info is one thing, even a smart thing. But look at the trail of things lupe is "looking for"....50K, Sundays off...can't even recall the rest.

Unrealistic, at best. Not impossible...just unrealistic.

Personally, I have always bought those CB radios with the on/off switch & the capability to change channels..Am I being a S/A? Yup, sure am, to some degree, but I'm with other drivers who would rather listen to a Bible Thumper than much of the other dribble on CB's.
I grew up w/o a CB..I grew accustomed to them just like many other drivers, but, I never, and I do mean never, let them drive my truck..happy trails..shakey..oh P.S. God & Church are wherever your heart is. "Where two or more are gathered in my name .............."
