If you do go that way and have a computer, I would pay attention to the DOT maps for that region. If husband feels it is unsafe to drive where he is at they don't hassle you if you ride out the weather. They have even sent out messages on the qualcomm on occasions like the high winds last week, for the drivers to stay put. Weather comes and goes.
He worked for another company a few years ago and ended up at the t/s in the Denver area, for 3 days. Left out the day it was finally clear and there were 5 trucks along the way that had ended up in the ditch.

Yes, he said that there were 4 or 5 trucks that passed him.
Before he also got caught up in the pile up.
"Speeding? I don't know, but they were going faster than I was."
We see these kinds of videos every year now, since there is always someone recording something.
This is the reason I shut down when conditions get bad. It is simply not worth the risk.
Hit a small patch of black ice and off you go into a ditch, or into the back end of someone.
Round a corner or be going downhill to see traffic stopped, and you may not be stopping in time - which is probably what happened in the video.
Brave the high winds, even with a heavy load, and you could be upside down very quickly.
I work during the winter months.
But I shut down before I get to the bad stuff, for the duration. And I don't get back on the road until the rush is over.
The load can wait on my own sweet time. The Patriot and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
