Thanks for the input guys. I turned it down, the truck was a little off,(half of the lights were out, 6 or 10 stray wires across the floor.) Just seemed like maint. problem) And to be honest I just could not see taking off into great wide open with the shakes(nerves). It just seems like recipe for disaster. Iknow if given the right set of circumstances Ill be good at this. But to become a statistic at this point in my career. Just not happening. Anyway thanks again for the help.:biggrin_25513:

I have a feeling you've made the right decision. And you impress me as a pretty sharp guy, Tile.

You drove 40 hrs on the road in training and never used the jake?

When I went through school I drove several mountain routes with a loaded trailer up and down 6% grades. I was well accustomed to using the jake and controlling rpms and speed.

I'm not sure what school you went to but even if you did well I don't think it's all that appropriate for a student driver with no experience to be instructing others even if only in the yard.

As far as you getting into something you can't handle it depends on your understanding of the basic principles such as trip planning, time management and understanding of proper logging, driver ettiquette and the procedures common at shippers and consignees. If you've had decent training there shouldn't be any real concern.

I found driving OTR to be far easier than most of the jobs I've had in the past. It's not rocket science. While there's more to it than the casual observer realizes it's a rather simple job that you should be competent at within a few weeks.
