    You are wrong.
    I do not hate trucking.
I hate the industry and what it has done to wages, benefits, and working conditions for drivers across the board.

I would not advise anyone to go into trucking.
I have FORBIDDEN any of my kids to drive a truck.

What was once a respectable, middle-class profession has now dipped into the realm of the working poor.
And will only continue to get worse with each passing year.

There are certain companies that have caused a lot of problems in this industry, They are generally referred to as bottom feeders. That being said, there are other companies that are still good to work for but you don't hear much about them because they don't advertise in the truckstop rags and they tend to have pretty low turnover.

    No kidding?
    I'd have never guessed that!

My old man forbid me going into trucking too...I ignored him and have been more successful than he ever was.
Your posts remind me of him...He never had a good word to say about anything in his life!

My old man said that in 1972 and he was wrong too.
If you settle for a job at a bottom feeder company then you deserve what you get.

Trucking isn't for everyone and you are quite obviously one of the ones that it isn't for....But some of the nonsense that you put out is just pure negativity for the sake of being negative.

Some of us enjoy this line of work and are very successful at it.

Sorry that it didn't work out for you.

Yes the wages are crazy, and most drivers are underpaid for there work. But I dont think drivers need to get paid for off time, or for waiting for a load. Its part of the job, and people should realize what the job entails before they sign up for it. Alot of the people getting into it these days think its a cake walk, when really it isnt just a job its a whole different lifestyle. An I agree its only gonna get worse because of the way the revolving door of drivers and these bottom feeder companies driving freight prices into the ground. But some people actually enjoy living on the road and seeing country, I know I loved it and I still miss parts. The only part I miss is the freedom on the road, being in a different spot everynight, and meeting new people everyday. The things I dont miss is the bs dot rules and regs, dispatchers with there crazy ideas, stupid fourwheelers, and crazy traffic jams.

Let me get this straight. The cops did not cite you? Then there is no accident on your legal record. Not yet anyway (my wife received a ticket in the mail for a rollover once, the cops didn't cite her at the scene, she beat it in court because the officer claimed he didn't remember any details).

That leaves the company. Maybe they will leave this "alleged" accident off your DAC since it was not reported. For them to report it would hurt their safety rating, right?

BTW, unless the sign specifically states the speed is for trucks, all those signs are for 4 wheelers.

Dude, this is so simple. Just the facts, Mam. (like Joe Friday). You wrecked a company truck, they let you go, its on your DAC. Period. Accept it as a life learning experience. And I guarantee you it won't happen again. Now all you have to do is find somebody to hire you. You aren't the first to wreck a truck and have to find another job.

I think Conway has a 100% non-preventable policy or something to that effect, and an accident classified as severe(totaling a truck would be), is considered grounds for termination.

That being said, the best thing you can do is to apply and see what you can get.

First you need to find out what Conway's reason for termination was...if your statement on any application differs from theirs, the next company will give more weight to their side and statements.

Keep in mind they cannot (by federal regulation) disclose the details of the incident to any entity inquiring about your performance, or what caused the termination. They are restricted to; verifying your dates of employment, the fact that you were employed by them, and if they would rehire you. that is what these companies use DAC (or whatever it's name is now) for, there are code words and phrases they can use that tip the inquiry for or against you.

What I think might show up, is that you were driving in an unsafe manner. Speed was excessive for conditions, you weren't being defensive...something along those lines...not wishing bad things for you, but be prepared for this, and an attorney might be your best bet. Find one that will give you free consultation for you to explain your side...but get the accident info as best you can, and the termination reason correct, before you go to the consult time>

    Good luck to you driver!
