It will definitely put me back at was I was making at Superior. And not have to stay out 2 weeks at a time doing it. So I am happy with that part of it. The guy that will be my boss is a super nice guy. Easy to get along with as long as your doing your job safe. He reiterated that several times in the interview. They pay well so there is no excuse not to be doing things safe.

If it simply involves a short time at jobs because of seasonal issues just mention it to the recruiter or employer after all they are human beings like the rest of us and have some sense of decency.

I know that tanker work ebbs and flows. And the winter time is typically a bit slower than the rest of the year. But when I started MDS back in May it should have been wide open. Their work just dropped off a cliff as soon as I came back. I looked back at my old check stubs from them 2 years ago and it wasn't this bad then. I don't know what is going on with that company they haul for. They just don't have the work and I was going in the hole working for them.

That being said, I was able to find a company that didn't find my past employment record an issue. I did explain to them what was going on at MDS and they understood. It's a good paying job so I should be able to get back on my feet, financially speaking.

So I landed a job with a private fleet that makes and hauls their own chemicals. I started on October 23rd and trained for a week and a half. Went out on my own after orientation on Monday and did two out and back runs, one to Mississippi and the other to Virginia. Everything outside the truck is paid hourly, mileage pay is the same loaded and empty. Benefits started day one, health insurance, vacation (two weeks), 6 sick days, company paid short and long term disability. Trucks are Freightliner Cascadias 13 speeds set at 70mph. They have the Tri-Pacs and inverters in them so they are set up pretty nice. Mostly run Sunday-Thursday and off Fri-Sat but there is occasional weeks where you won't get back until Friday sometime so only a day and a half off then. But the money is good for sure. Feeling pretty fortunate to land this job.
