The NTSB can only "report and recommend"...any law being made will have to come from the individual States...which 35 have done for hand held devices, 24 for texting.

However...the FMCSA can institute a new "regulation" regarding commercial vehicles....here we go down the slippery slope!

Like I said. YOU seem to want this.

Limo's will not want to have it. There is much business in the back.

You are traveling in a taxi and want to use your phone, your want will now eliminate this.

Cell phone use by fire dept's and ambulances will be restricted as well as police by the movement item YOU WANT.

Now, in the trucking industry, you are part of a team and riding in the back sleeper. MOVEMENT restriction that you want will not allow the phone or the air card to work.

YOU just want this because YOU LIKE MORE GOVERNMENT.

Why don't they do their jobs and enforce some laws that we already have instead of insisting on new ones. And I am not just talking about LEO. :Police car:These check points you refer to hardly pull over the people I previously spoke of. They instead stalk us truck drivers and hound us. There are a few of the "I worship all these cheety regs and you all need to just suck it up because it makes the roads safer" guys on here that I would love to ride with and video record all the "great regs and laws" that you break..

As it pertains to this thread,I hardly see your point, all I have said is what I have witnessed today,,,THATS IT

    I have a blue tooth,,,THATS IT

I posted that I saw 2 CARS get pulled over in front of me for an apparent violation of GA law,,,THATS IT,,the guy eating the SUb passed me right after i passed the stopped cars,,HMMMMMMMM seems to fit what your asking

OMG why are you even trying to make this an issue about me,,,Im in the exact same boat as YOU

Buy you a Bluetooth, and or a headset dont let the paranoia get to you Volvo,,,you make it sound like Im out here cheering for this,,,they NTSB is citing all vehicles btw not just trucks

Im on the phone alot too(on a headset) I could never drive a truck without it(I chew alot of Bubble gum) so multi tasking is out of the question,LOL

If it does pass it will be a big inconvenience to say the least,,,up until then i will go with a headset

Maybe its just me but with these two statements it seems to me that you are against cells and all for intervention. I am not trying to "call" you out I just replied to your post and gave My "opinion". Just my observation but I read alot of your posts and I see where you praise the new and upcoming regs quite a bit. Again I am not just "Picking" on you. I am glad you have a bluetooth and think that to some extent they are better than talking on a phone but they can be distracting also. Just one example would be getting bothered by the device as you have had it on for 5 hours now so you pull it off your head and therefore drive with 1 hand on the wheel and most likely take your eyes off the road for a second. The point I made about how I would like to "ride along with a few of the Laws are great" guys is that I guantee that there are plenty of these great laws and reg that get broke on a daily basis. Again not "Picking" on You ECU51.:biggrin_25525:
