Loaded there last week I thought it’s pretty simple

 

One in Birmingham must be union. I was held up for hours waiting on a banding machine to band one piece of pipe. When the pieces were all located for the banding machine it took a few minutes.

I thought the same thing as another poster. These guys probably make a killing, I worked as a union aircraft mechanic for a short time and soon realized if you worked hard you were admonished for finishing to quickly… the motto was slow and steady… look busy… take your time…

 

I saw a billboard for Nucor in Indiana(?) “now hiring York $20 per hour”. I wouldn’t exactly call that killing it.

 

If that is starting a wage at $20 an hour to slink around a plant, ride a golf cart around, and walk about as slow as a human can possibly walk it is probably a pretty good start. If it really is union (which of course I don’t know if it is) then in a short period of time those wages go up fast.
They also probably have 15 supervisors and safety people for every worker. Lol

 

In that area and just at startimg wage, that may not be "killing it" but if youre able to not get yourself fired its a solid living

 

We got several Nucor plants around me. They are all very different and independently managed as a separate business.

Our local one requires so much safety gear for its employees they can’t even hardly move but, they offer on the job massages every Wednesday. On site nurse practitioner every Friday for anyone that wants it? Kicked my buddy and his truck out a couple years ago because he had a rebel flag printed on his grill.

I can’t even stand to go there anymore even though it’s the closest decent paying freight around. Structure steel loaded by idiots and takes them forever even if they call you and tell you it’s ready for pickup.
