# 1 lane is the one I traveling in, even if it is off the road, we only look out for #1 anymore, right?
-
This is why some get passed on the right, they sit in the passing lane for trucks, if we are not allowed another lane over than that middle lane and it is a 3 lane road, use the right lane, have a following distance to let others in and out and just enjoy the ride. do not be a road block because others are doing it. unless a vehicle is on the shoulder passing out tickets stay in right lane.hunts2much, BigBob410 and Blackshack46 Thank this.

Right, right center, left center and left. Unless nobody knows left from right then no confusion...
Blackshack46 Thanks this. -
That's the way that I was taught, it is in Michigan spec book and used for design of roads, father was in construction for 50 years, part was road building.BigBob410 Thanks this.

Nobody's passing me on the right.
I'm not constantly changing lanes from the granny lane for all the merging traffic, its safer to stay in the center and let traffic get on and off the highway,as long as your not impeding other traffic.Trucker61016 Thanks this. -
This was the correct way before being Stupid became a career choice.Oxbow, G13Tomcat, Moosetek13 and 3 others Thank this.

In Ca. #1 is the far left......in some areas we have 6-7 lanes where they've widened the freeway !
-
yes it seems to come down to opinions the majority though seem to feel its going from left to right as shown in the picture. I personally would go the other way and count from right to left and one usually can tell what lanes are blocked when their approaching from a distance anyway.Dan.S and Steel Dragon Thank this.

Lots of “stupid” people in California lately. They can’t count the lanes they are in. In California, your restricted to the right lane and are supposed to use the left lane for passing. Many hang out in the passing lane and we must used the suicide lane to pass. Also, been seeing a lot of “stupid” driving the expensive lanes, usually they have there foot on top of the dash not paying attention and no CB on to let them know there’s a “Full grown” coming up behind them.bottomdumpin and Steel Dragon Thank this.
