Met someone running same short hops as me with his own authority. Who has extra truck, 250wk and i pick my own loads. Haven't discussed numbers for using authority so im asking 15% is too much ( my number) or is that to low
I'd be paying IFTA, plates, etc.

Okay I'm a little confused. Are you leasing the truck from him for 250 a week on top of paying for the expenses of the truck? If so you need to be making a heck of a lot more than 15%. Or are you paying him 15% of what you earn for using his authority . Now if you're just driving his truck as a company driver for him then you should not be paying any expenses for the truck and being paid a flat per mile rate.

Do you have idea what avg is, for my paying IFTA, plates, trailer etc ?
Most of what is see is company covering those and dispatch for bigger cut.

The average is 65 to 70%. It is hit and miss on what the company does and does not pay. My situation is I get paid 89% because I own my trailer but I pay everything for the truck. If I didn't own my trailer I would only get 79

Ok, this would be much the same.
I rent my own trl and cover all expenses. As far as i know, he is one truck show and this is new ground for him too.
I'm starting to shy away from the idea as time goes on

Unless you intend to be an o/o and use this as a way to get your own equipment eventually i wouldn't do it. You give up a lot of benefits being an independent contractor such as medical, retirement, protection from the fees for your employment, etc. Not to mention being responsible for all your taxes. If your interested i have a thread on here where I give my numbers. My lease adventure
