I believe that is what the problem is - why would Kenworth sell a truck that will not work for city driving or modify the truck to work efficiently for city driving seeing all the issues - they have done all the work on this truck and have the history some of the work was covered by warranty. Warranty is now expired and costing me 10 of thousands in repair not to mention the down time.

MX13 is to big a engine for your application.
I suspect the same can be said for the PX 9's.

Somebody gave you very bad advice .

    Brand doesn't matter too much.

Look for the dealer that has the best service.
Ask at the dealer how much time and money he has spend in letting his service staff follow courses to stay up to date.
Look at what kind off turnover rate said dealer has.

Then inform yourself as to what engine best suits your needs.
For example if i was a salesman i would never have sold you that mX13
You need a engine that is heavy enough to do the work but light enough to get a workout.(as others have stated)

Get all the extended warranty you can.

those recommendations are what was done except one. The one thing I did not - "You need a engine that is heavy enough to do the work but light enough to get a workout."
I went over with salesman exactly what trucks would be used for, weights, capacity, distance traveleling hours on the road and went with recommendation. Talked to 4 different salesmen and none mentioned this. That was a costly mistake.
