I suppose policies could have changed. I took a look at Nussbaum some time ago, and may again in the future. I would not have the same issue though, in that I have my own tractor.

How interesting! I just had a great conversation with a Nussbaum driver a few days ago, while doing laundry. He absolutely loved it! Home almost every weekend and still grossing a minimum of a grand a week. He delivers garage doors. He had nothing but good things to say. I'm out here for months at a time and I dont even average that

Nussbaum needs to get a tanker division. I'd switch companies in a heartbeat. I just can't bring myself to pulling dry van again. Such a boring way to drive.

Nussbaum is pretty happy doing what they're doing right now, they really have no desire to expand at anything other than a VERY SLOW rate. We have more freight than we know what to do with, BUT expanding too quick will just make it another megacarrier, which would be my cue to leave. So yeah, their hiring areas are very limited and selective, and we only do dry van(ok, we have 2 reefer trailers on dedicated runs, and 6 flatbeds for hauling oversized tires, but that's such a small part of what we do).

The guarantee is a minimum. I've been here 3 months and only used the guarantee once. Total pay is usually anwhere between $1100-$1500/week (comes out to $850-$1200 after my deductions, yours may be different- taxes, 4% to the 401k, health insurance w/ smoker rate which is about $50). Normally, you'll make 20-30% above guarantee. This does NOT include the bonus discussed above.

    ... wow.

Sounds like the Holy Grail of carriers.

    Where's the catch?

They are very strict about out of route.

It's their fuel, so I wouldn't mind that... as long as I could still hit a WalMart if I happened to pass one near an off ramp.

Well that's a deal breaker then, as I don't believe I could stock my truck with 10-12 months worth of groceries. :(
