How many miles were on this 625 when this started?
-
first started at about 100,000 miles #3 inj was replaced, now it has 218,000
-
I have the same engine with 388,000+ miles and very few problems. Call the local CAT rep. and explain what the problems are. Most of the reps. I have spoken with are more than willing to go the extra mile.

did they check the liner protrution when they had the head off? you said blown head gasket i had the same problem a few years back it started missing they kept replacing #5 injector found out the head gasket was blown because they didnt check liner protrution.
-
local cat rep said that they were not going to keep throwing parts at it. they said to wait until something brakes then they will know what to fix.
-
they cut all 6 counter bores, reshimmed them and replaced 6 cyl kits. (2 under warranty and 4 i paid for)
-
Sounds like they don't know what to do. If you can, next time it needs work, go some place else to have the work done.

Has anybody checked the camshaft injector lobes?
I got your message and have been busy, try to call me tomorrow.frankie f Thanks this. -
After reading this again...........start by changing one injector..........if the miss doesn't go away replace the next injector with the one you took out. Do trhis until you've changed them all or until the miss disappears. CAT uses the fuel to cool the injectors, do you have a single tank with a small capacity? Fuel temperature could be causing a problem making the injectors fail. Also fuel flow through the head can be restricted causing injector failures..........not enough volume to cool the injectors, but plenty of pressure to build power. You may want to check volume of fuel flowing through the engine.frankie f Thanks this.
