Just go up 10th to 179th, make left and go across the GW. I wouldn't mess with going any other way. The lights sychronize going up 10th so you don't have to stop for many reds if you catch a wave.

Then you're riding the turnpike down to exit 13 278/Goethals Bridge. You'd have to pay the huge Verrazano toll if you went through Brooklyn and Staten Island and going that way sucks big time anyway.

I agree but I checked the traffic and the gw wb was all jacked up and the way South was clear
If wasn't paying the tolls I woulda gone South that time of night
    Different story during the day.

Any bridge height is measured from the curb, so it's really a foot higher than posted. I have gone to Manhattan but been to Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, and Long Island. Other than tight maneuvers there were no issues. At the Bronx markets once you exit after the GW just follow the signs, they're everywhere. If you miss one you can grab the next one. If I'm going to Brooklyn or Queens it's what I'm going to do once I leave the interstate and the receivers were able to get me directions in there that worked.

You gotta watch the BQE construction too especially late night during summertime. They're famous for creating huge backups at 2am trying to get through downtown Brooklyn.

Just for fun let's say you had to go south for some reason and were pointed west on W 25th St between 10th and 11th. Which way do you go?

Go to 11th and you can only turn left.
Odd South, even North on the Avenues.
Took me 1 1/2 hours from W 25th St to Linden NJ. That was running North on 10 th ave to 179th st. Not bad for 2pm.

Looked to me like 11th go left, continue straight onto 9A/West side hwy. Canal go left, Manhattan bridge continue straight to Brooklyn, Jay St. exit on other side and make the U-turn at Prospect (to dodge the low clearance at Sands and Jay.) Sands go left and BQE on ramps are dead ahead.
