I’ve been driving for 6 months. I go to New York all the time. But I always take the GW bridge to get to Long Island. Does anyone know if I can take the BQE (i278) to I 495?

Yes you can. The BQE is 13'6" even though Atlantic it says "all trucks over 12'2" must exit"
ncmickey and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Yeah they want all trucks to cross the gw (prolly easier to count) but there is an upper and lower alternative to the gw. When you find the underwater truck tunnel,-that's the best way to sneak in on july 3rd and get a good spot for the fireworks. Cop says 'you can't park here) looking at all the cars packed around me I asked if he was gonna move rhem so I could leave? He said enjoy the show.

I take the BQE when it looks better than the GWB/ CBX but it’s no picnic either. Make sure to pay attention and read the signs. Easy to be in wrong lane and take wrong exit. 13’6” will clear on BQE. Ignore the signs at Atlantic like someone else said…
Have fun

dosgatos, silverspur and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
The old sayin was
“In from the bottom..,out the top..,so you only pay the one Jerzy inbound toll
Course depending on where your comin from
I always prefer comin in thru Brooklyn,,,(unless goin to the point) because when you get familiar with the area.,,there’s lots of alternatives to the BQE
Not so much with the Cross BronxBean Jr. Thanks this.
