They have been checking our drivers for HUT since Jan1st renewal

I had a Alabama Revenue officer pull me over, well actually FORCE me off the road to check my IRP last summer. Instead of getting behind me and turning on his lights, he got in front of me, turned on his lights and moved over forcing me onto the shoulder and almost getting run into from behind by another car.

Hey-New Mexico loves compliance checks. It happens so much i'm surprised when it doesn't.Have what they want,in and out in a few minutes and lowers the carrier rating score. They are doing their job.I do mine right and we get along just fine.Take care.Brian

the states are flat broke. so the state cops are worried about there next paycheck bouncing. so there out get the money out of truckers.

can you say "public sector unions"?

They are checking IFTA and HUT (and LOGS). Grace period is a concept you won't find used much in NY when it comes to LEO's. They'll write the ticket anyway and bank on you or your company not fighting it.

Grace period if for the sticker. We just got ours in the mail yesterday about 10 days before they said they would be ready to mail. But still need to be able to show proof you are registered.
I would buy the typical "they are out to get us" BS if we didn't have states crying about how less tickets are being issued but warnings are up. CA, IL, NY and NJ are asking for fines to be attached to the violations on the inspection form that can come back to each state to help with "processing". They have been flatly refused on this. There reasoning behind this is that in the past the LEO would write a ticket because a warning had no teeth. But a warning on an inspection now comes with CSA "points". So they are giving warnings and not writing tickets.
IL revenue from truck related tickets was down over 60% in 2011 from 2009.
And this is being reported across states. FMCSA is actually proud of this fact.
And let's get real about this. Spend 5-mins while driving looking for truck violations. You will likely find 10-15 things being done that they could ticket for that would generate a lot more revenue than some paperwork ticket.scottied67 Thanks this. -
didn't know that applied to HUT also.

They said long as you have a proof of payment handy. Believe that was if it's past Feb 1st tho. Mine still hasn't come...filled out and mailed in october...been calling, they try to make it seem like it's my fault-I said if I made a mistake then you shouldn't have cashed the check :/ Least I have "proof of payment" hope it comes soon.
