Good advice. There are several truck stops close to me. I've been by them all just looking at the operations, facilities and the trucks. Next visit I will start talking to some of the drivers. I certainly have the intention to sign on with a comany I could stay with until I retire. I know life is filled with unexpected turns and twists so you kinda have to be ready to roll with the flow.
O.K., I jumped!

Trucking companies are also listed by state at fleetdirectory.com, and you can find local and regional listings in the 'Transport' column of Craigslist. Plenty of smaller outfits use C/L instead of paying heller money for advertising, just be careful about sending your personal info until you know they are legit. Ask for a hard address, website, MC or DOT number, etc.

I spoke to a WS 2 days ago and they sounded like a respectable company. Couple of things that have not locked me in with them that some other companys have -
1- No 401-k match. For me this means something but for others it might not matter.
2 - CPM are on the lower end of the scale. Newbies start at .26 and after 1 year reach .31cpm. After 10 yrs you reach .36cpm. Again if you get the miles like it sounds like you will there it might be ok.
3 - Same pay no matter where you go. I know a few companys have a premium to drive the East coast. My self I dont particularly like to drive NY, Bost or Philly so this does weight on MY decision.
Not saying these are all bad things, but just things that I have concerns with. Good luck in your decision! -
Very helpful feedback. Thanks.
