The trucking industry is so vicious the port or no other business that we service should not allow dot on their property to mess with trucks. I see it all the time in the ports in virginia. DOT setup at the outbound inspecting trucks when exiting the port. If they stop you at a scale on on the road that's a different story but they basically coming to our job

So I got a good chuckle this morning. There's a sign just east of 53 on I-80 that says 55 to arsenal road is the preferred truck route. Well of course it is, that's where will county set up the portable scales every day....... Duh!

I'd never touch those port cans unless I had my own chassis to put them on. The steamship line equipment is junk and often dangerous. Could be good work for a guy set up to do it right who wants to be home daily but doesn't want a typical company monkey local job.

The rail heads are typically considered easier to deal with and their equipment is usually much better. I knew a guy who ran his own day cab in Portland who did okay just working the UP and BNSF yard. The guy who's authority he ran under didn't even want port work. They didn't have their own chassis's and generally considered it a waste of time and not lucrative enough to bother with.

So I've been doing a load to Elwood everyday this week. Usually getting in around 8 am. It wasn't too bad, but I ran late today and didn't get in the area till 12:30, what a difference a couple hours makes!

On another note, I haven't seen will county on arsenal road at all this week. @RERM or @JJKid did they all go on vacation at the same time?

I stand corrected, their out on full force today. They don't even look my way, mainly the reefer guys and 20'S on pool chassis.

I really have to stop taking Elwood loads, it can be a pain in the rear to get in there.
