I know I could probably Google this but you guys are a lot more knowledgeable because you’ve lived it.
Can I get my own numbers and continue my current job running under my company’s authority? Or does it have to be one or the other? Thank you all so much for your help on this.

Well I’m straight so I don’t think the Navy would take me!!!
But I did nine years in the National Guard and that was enough for me.

    Soltaker and aussiejosh Thank this.

Having your own numbers gives you the flexibility to hop around, if you find a carrier that can keep you busy, you can stay or go to the next one. It gives you more freedom to run your company the way you want.

I do flatbeds, most of my hauls are construction related, if it rains, they cancel loads. Or if the job site gets flooded, they don’t take loads either and if they have been prepping the job site for up coming steel or whatever, it all gets delayed. Vans loads are all a different category.

    Ok thank you.
    I get that.
But I don’t have a trailer. Power only.
And I’m just wondering if once I got my own authority the company that I’m running for would say you can’t run for us now.

2 million miles in 12 years time? You're getting it done! New truck in 2021, so that's what, pushing 400k on the odometer now ?

It’s actually 13+ but I always get confused cuz I took a break.

2 years trying real estate. (Sucked. There’s a much higher barrier to entry for truckers. For RE all you need is a couple hundred dollars for a test and you can sell million dollar properties. A LOT of shady people)
    Then came back in 18.
I drove for a certain chicken company that ran me to death for the first 6 years. Would stay out 2 months. Take maybe 4 days. I think about it now and I don’t know how I did it. Got colds a lot. Didn’t sleep much.
GPS includes car miles. But my 2018 Honda Accord has 14,000 miles on it. Cuz I’m never home to drive it. The dealership calls and tells me it’s due for service and I have to tell them that it’s not even close.
