I have had folkjs ask me this a ton of times 10 years O/O 5 years company driver. And i told them all the same thing its easy start with 2 million. If its got T!ts,Wheels or props its going to cost you. So if you don't take care of buisness it will take care of you. Your spread sheets are all well and good ut none of them figured the things that need to be considered the most replacement cost of equipment because you will replace it or get out. And don't forget self employment tax,Social security, fed and state income tax, local taxes if you own property that is classafied commercial. If you want to make it in the buisness the old figuer for trucks was it took .55 to operate and that was every thing. Now with the fuel and cost climbing like it is i can see where it would be more like .80 to .85 i would have to put it on paper and figure it out again before i get back into it. and i will be back pulling a step deck but if it doesn't pay 2.00 minimum don't haul it and eventualy they will get the idea. i dead headed from the west coast many times because all they wanted to pay was .60 or .80 to haul a load useing the back haul excuse. There is no such thing as back haul its a load plane and simple if it moves it pays its on way never leave home with out a round trip. Meaning get enough going out to come back empty and make them cheap brokers come of the money they put in there pocket with a phone computer and a fax machine.
