Honestly, you can do alot of stuff with a 4 axle truck and a 3 axle stretch rgn with a top deck. That is a really nice setup to run. Not too heavy and very flexible.

i was thinking like having two 55 ton liddelle lowboys with the plates that go over the axles, maybe one stinger, a good old used beam trailer and maybe a landoll, and a stepdeck, and or flat. i think the lowboys would be the newer trailers and the rest would be good and used, i guess keep them around if their is not enough work for te lowboys.

    Not to be rude
But the last thing I want is a two or three truck fleet. This is my retired gig and I #### sure don't want to listen to any cry baby drivers that's ######## about the weather being to cold or the rigging being to heavy.
If I was to buy another wagon I think it would be a used 4 axel beam with a hydro neck. But with my luck I would have the wrong wagon at the wrong side of the country.:biggrin_25523:

I don't think heavy haul is for entry level drivers. I think you should first get some experiance in securement and pulling O/D loads first with a flat or step before taking the plunge into 7 or more axles :biggrin_25524:! It only takes 1 "OH CRAP" to ruin 1000 "ATTA Boy's"!!!!

If anyone's interested I have to get out of my 01 Pete 379 EXH, ISX Signature 600, 18speed, 3:55'2 with a 2006 Trail King 35ton double drop manual detatch RGN, with flip axle... 42,600lbs full of fuel and everything on board..

I realy like my Trail King, nice beefy trailer.. well built.. Got medical problems and can't drive any more.

You only need one trailer per driver in a small operation. For me I can do just as well with a stretch step deck as with RGN but I leave the super loads to someone else. On the chain issue, chains always hold more than the rating on the ratchet binders. I've never used the 3/8 or 1/2 chains.

Just curious, whats the price on the pete and trailer

And another thing you will have to deal with:biggrin_255:

    From Wisconsin Dot.
    Tuesday March 2nd 2010.
Frozen road declaration ending south of US 8 on Thursday, March 4th
Spring thaw and Class II restrictions will also begin next Monday March 8th in zones 2-5.
Forecasts for warming weather throughout the state have prompted the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) to announce that the frozen road declaration will end in Zones 2-5, located south of US 8, as of 12:01 a.m. Thursday, March 4.
The frozen road declaration in the northernmost zone, Zone 1, is expected to end sometime next week. A map of affected highways in each of the five zones is available at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation Web site.
Additionally, effective at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, March 8, spring thaw and Class II restrictions will go into effect in all but the northernmost zone, Zone 1. A determination for Zone 1 will be made at a later date when conditions warrant.
State-maintained highways were declared in December and January to be 'so frozen' that no damage would result from increased load limits, thereby allowing higher weights for trucks hauling specific types of forest products (peeled or unpeeled forest products cut crosswise, not including woodchips), or salt and/or sand.
Maps depicting where and when the frozen road, Class II, and spring thaw declarations are effective and where state highways are posted are available on the Wisconsin DOT Web site.
Information on overweight permits can be found at the WisDOT Web site. http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/travel/truck/weightrestrictions.htm
Up-to-date information on the frozen road declaration, Class II restrictions, and the spring thaw period is also available by calling (608) 266-8417.
It is during the transition period from roadbeds being frozen to when they have dried out and firmed up that heavy loads pose the greatest threat to highways. The spring thaw weight restriction means overweight permits for divisible loads, such as for hauling raw forest products or garbage, are suspended on all state highways.
Local county highways, town roads, and city and village streets may also be posted or limited to legal load limits or less. Decisions to place or lift weight restrictions on those roads are up to local units of government.
