Hey everyone! Just thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself and say hi.
I'm 26 and married to a hugely supportive wife for two years (no kids yet). We live in South-Eastern Manitoba and love it here. I made the mistake once of turning a hobby into a career with no regard for pay. I think I'm as aware as I can be without experience on the drawbacks to otr, but this is something we talked about in depth and decided meets our needs quite well.
I'm beginning a six week course on Monday and accepted a job offer from Big Freight Systems to begin immediately after training completion. I've seen two complaints online about the company, but tbh it really looks like the driver wanting to ditch their agreement without consequence. Besides that, the local guys I've talked to a quite happy with where they're at.
Some of the reasons I chose BFS:
-good pay after company training
-flatdeck work should help keep me in shape
-3 min drive to company yard
-excellent trainers as well as a mentor for first six months of solo
-late model T800 fleet
-guaranteed home time policy
I'm aware that no job (especially in trucking) is as peachy as it seems. I'm pretty confident that life out of a truck will suit me just fine, but I think getting used to the showering and cooking constraints will take a while to adjust to. (Been reading the 'Cooking in the truck' thread and finding it very helpful!)
Anyway, sorry for the the novel. Drop me a line and say hi!![]()

I've been reading this site for about a week now and have wanted to thank a lot of posters. I've seen questions about this, but no answers. Also wondering about my profile pic... Do these just appear after a few posts to week out spammers?
EDIT: 'thanks' button has automagically appeared. -
