My name is Aaron Stewart, I'm from Bakersfield, Calif and I've spent the past two years driving for an auto parts delivery company by the name of Fast Undercar. During that time I began to see more and more signs (on businesses and on trucks) about hiring class A drivers. After being stuck behind a CR England truck on an out of town run, I began to stare at the 'train' part of it and realized where I need to go in order to actually get a proper career. Halfway through college I decided my intended career as a photojournalist was not for me (I had won awards in sports photography on local, state, and even an honorable mention on the national level) but after graduating from college have spent years in minimum wage jobs.
I have spent the last few months researching companies (a LOT of thanks to Trucking Truths) and have spoken to multiple recruiters. I will head to Central Refrigerated's truck driving School in Fontana on Dec 10th, to take the next step.
I have a longtime girlfriend and a house (well, im paying the bank for my house, as that goes...) and she was a bit shocked at first but we've come to accept that this really is a great move for me, and even though we both know the difficulties of what we will go through during my time OTR, we're prepared to fight to keep the relationship together and move a step closer to marriage.
I am a racer in the Hobby Stock division (mainly late 70s Camaros and Novas) at the Bakersfield Speedway. 2013 will end my 8 consecutive years of racing (3 in the Mini Stock division, 2005 Champion with my 1989 Nissan 240sx, and 5 in the Hobby Stock division in my 1979 Camaro) But its certainly for the best.
