I changed my oil filter (LF14000NN) from a bulk pack I bought. This new one looks off with that rubber piece and no holes on the sides like most filters have. Is that rubber piece supposed to come out or stay in? I've changed this filter before but am having a brain fart and I tried a baldwin filter last time so I cannot check and compare.![]()

That looks like a fuel filter to me

I know, its weird looking with no holes.

It stays in. They upgraded the filter, and got rid of the venturi. You should have another rubber gasket that goes around the outside, though. Not sure if you removed it for clarification in the pic.
spindrift, RunningAces and JonJon78 Thank this. -
Excellent, and yes I took the regular gasket off to take the picture. I must be getting old because I've changed that filter a couple of times with no problems.God prefers Diesels Thanks this.

Were you using the LF9070 in the past? The LF14000nn is the new style. It's been around for about five years, but I guess they wanted dealers to run out the old 9070 stock before they started stocking the new ones.pushbroom Thanks this.
