I'm a chicken trucker lol. Itsln a 50'6" trailer with with the forklift mounted its around 53. Real top heavy too.
That would be "Chicken Hauler." Great on ya for getting into it the old fashioned way, earning it. Downshifting will come natural eventually. Watch the speed and RPM on the way up...if 40 MPH is 1,500 RPM in X gear on the way up thats where to go at 40 on the way down. Best of luck to you!
That's how I got my cdl too. I put in my 2 years with them (hauling glass) then hit the road for more money. Best thing I ever did (career-wise)
Internationals are pretty good trucks! I owned a 9900 and it was literally THE most dependable truck I have ever driven! Was a beautiful truck too with lots of room. Didn't have a lot of cabinets so I just built some. That truck drove like a cadillac boy! Should be some picts of it in my profile.
Well ive gotten the hang of downshifting. Doubt that while in neutral if I him the hifter against the gear I need, itll go right in whn I hit the right rpm. Any tips for starting uphill? Had to today and it was a bit rough, but I didn't let it roll back into traffic so not to bad lol.
Use your hand brake. This will allow use of both feet for clutch and fuel. You can also keep your foot on the brake and slowly let off the clutch until it starts to pull. You won't stall as long as you do it correctly. Keep your foot on the brake though and lift the clutch slowly, as soon as you fill the truck starting to tug then just let off the brake and away you go. If you have a hand brake do the same thing except you can use the fuel pedal a little bit.
