Had a good orientation last week and flew back home. Got a call Friday with my truck assignment and was informed I needed to pick it up Sunday in Dallas and bobtail to Shreveport for backing school on Monday. I arrived early on Sunday so I could give my truck a thorough check before heading out because I am a firm believer in Murphy's Law. Well hears where my luck takes a ####. First truck threw an engine ecu fault as soon as I fired her up. Shop tells me that nobody can check it till in the morning. Call and get another truck assigned. Find it and it's in the down line at the shop. Call again and get my 3rd truck assignment. She checks out good. Fuel her up and load my stuff into the truck. For an 07 Cascadia she is in fairly good shape. So my journey begins. A little traffic in Dallas but nothing major, especially bob tailing and then the road in front of me goes dark. No headlights, no running lights, nothing. Hear I am sitting in a gas station parking lot waiting on a service truck to see if they can fix her.
Off to a good start...not

@HorseShoe ( we've used him alot, but a used horseshoe shows character!)

Hopefully the service truck can get her fixed or its back to the yard to find another truck. Not to worried about it since I used to work for Halliburton and we had a mechanic follow us from well to well because of all the issues.

Well I made it to backing school a day late. I got assigned a new truck since mine not only had a bad headlight switch but had a memory failure in the ecu and would have to go back to freightliner to be fixed( heard from the shop manager that it was just picked up from the dealership after having the ecu reprogrammed). My "new" truck was sitting at the backing school so I hitched a ride with another driver heading that way. It's a 2012 freightliner and is in good condition other than the interior needing a thorough cleaning.

Dang that's bad. Never heard of that kind of issue. A 2007 truck??? Doesn't even sound like Averitt. Didnt know they had trucks that old. You probably just got lucky.
The other things you mentioned about computer errors happen often. A friend of mine drives in the OTL division here and they get the latest trucks since its a touring thing. He is in a 2016 Volvo that has 12,000 miles on it and is getting a check engine light for some kind of sensor.
A ford pickup seems to hold up better than big trucks now a days.chopper103in Thanks this. -
Sorry just looked back at the original post and 2007 was a typo. It was a 2010.
