Manuals cost less in maint. Then auto's. Not as much to go wrong. And auto's get better fuel mileage.

On the other side. Manuals can get beat up pretty bad from lack of experience. Clutches burning out is the most popular things. With twisted drivelines and busted axle shafts following.

ONly the long haul companies and some specialized local operations use auto's. Most other locals still use sticks and have no plans to switch to auto's anytime soon.

Because most newbies learn on auto's these days. It really puts you all in a bind for local work.

    Put's a smile on us veteran's though.

True. If it was my good friend I would though. I’d shift for them while the held the shifter for a while so they knew what to feel for. That’s the hardest part.

Kind of weird but better than blowing up your transmission.

Um, not really. They do when they're in the hands of someone who can't drive.

Give me a truck with a manual, versus the identical truck with an auto in the hands of another (comparable) driver, and I guarantee I'll run rings around it in the MPG department. The auto makes bad drivers OK, and also makes good drivers just OK. Professional drivers strive to exceed "OK."

If they are stuck they will toss you the keys and send you on your way. You’ll figure it out, not rocket science
