Like they can wake you up for being parked on top of a fire hydrant but they can not wake you up at a rest area for a random inspection , you either ignore them or open your sleeper window and tell them to #### off

For the most part, I agree with your sentiment, but I've also come to the conclusion (after many decades of life experience), that no matter how "nice" enforcement officers are, they're mostly interested in closing cases. And not all are nice...
If only they thought the same about truck drivers. ;)

This is extremely bad advice. I don't like calling someone out, but you can't just ignore a cop. DOT cops generally won't mess with a driver parked to inspect them EVEN if they are just stopping to use the restroom. In some states, a property owner can give law enforcement full police powers on said property. Regardless of where you are and your status, you tell a cop to (redacted) off and you have bought yourself a snoot full of trouble.

It's been done before and saved drivers from crooked inspections . If uncertain you can ask the cop through what his reason is. If he says an inspection then tell him to #### off . Plus cops are getting sued day by day they have to really watch their steps if they don't want be on CNN and if you're black they might as well not even touch you.

Do what the cop says. It’s his jurisdiction. Plain and simple.

    Lol
Cops are not there to help us .
They are there to generate revenue, and help themselves, and write reports of crimes that happened several Hours previously.
    Basically just Crime historians

If they trip over a crime in progress and arrest an actual criminal , with actual victims , but that’s pretty rare .
They spend 99% of their time hiding and looking for people committing victimless crimes that generate revenue , like traffic tickets.

that said, if someone is knocking on the door , it could be anything from a bum wanting a handout or someone telling you the truck next to yours is on fire , or the cops or another driver telling you the haz mat tanker a few yards away is leaking.

Cops generally don’t hassle parked trucks unless they’ve been asked to roust the driver because the truck is blocking a gate or something.

i used to arrive at business after
Midnight and I’d park, on purpose, blocking their driveway or gate.

so they would have to wake me up to get in.
I learned that if I parked off to the side and didnt block the gate , the employees and all the other trucks would just go around me , and I’d wake up and would have six trucks in line ahead of me to get loaded.
