I got my CDL in Jan 2010. I did a 6 month stint with WERNER, working the Family Dollar dedicated New York City.
I did that for 4 months, and decided to move to FL. I got here and the only dedicated routes Werner had was
SEARS and Home Cheapo. Both with "10 page waiting lists," so they offered up 48-State out for 2-3 weeks.

So, I decided to return to manufacturing. That worked out for 3 and half years, but after being laid-off at the end of May,
I lost all ambition to continue to work on CNC's. So, I went up to Dart Transportation in Buford, GA.
At the physical the doc, sent my but home for a sleep study.

Now, 4 months later, I'm finally going back to Dart with my CPAP unit in tow. ######### medical science rip-off,
16 weeks of medical tests, and waiting and working crappy temp jobs to pay for it...

But now its time to shower and get ready for my Greyhound to Buford.

    Chinatown and Ukumfe Thank this.

Well day one done, passed the safety test, did my road test, I'm guessing I passed they haven't escorted my out the building. So tomorrow is health insurance, and etc. And going down to Norcorss to get my official long and short forms. Then I think I'm home free...

So, about 4 months later, I'm still with dart. Enjoyed it for the most part.

The worst part of my job is Atlanta, and my tiny ### truck, volvo 630 with the base i-shift 12 spd auto, and a single babybunk. I cant even bring my wife in the truck. I have my cooler strapped to the passenger seat. Its not a "bad" truck just tiny, good for a regional trucker out for 5, 6 days but beyond that it gets small fast once you load 2 wks worth of clothes and non-perishables.

Ive talked to a few of the other drivers, havent seen many lately 'cept for going the other way on the interstates, of the Atlanta shorthaulers ive talked to, I seem to get the best consist milage. And my fleet manager likes to keep me out of atlanta most weeks so i cant complain about that.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

So you're regional and are home every 5-6 days? Are you only home long enough for your 34hr restart or longer? Looking into a regional route and trying to get a feel for things.
