Those settings are made with the blessings of both the state DOT where the carrier's main terminal is and the FMCSA... so - just maybe you're talkin' out of somewhere that doesn't speak too well. On the other hand, the FMCSA has a notice of proposed rule making out concerning the specifications of future (mandated) Elog/EOBR installations, and I believe your manual override of the automatic switch from off-duty to line 3 is not part of it. Even the current regulations admit the possibility of moving a vehicle on private property - not on a public roadway without the necessity of being on line 3.

The current regs allow you to drive to a city where you have multiple deliveries and log all of them as on duty not driving. So what about that? And why are you presenting possible future rule changes that don't exist at all? Under the current regs, the log does what you tell it to do or it is wrong.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you're going to want to be reviewing the HOS regs. I've seen a few of your posts where your information is off.
That ruling exists in order to ease the readability of logs... the driver still has to show the total time on-duty and driving separately.

You mean the one that starts out with:

Meaning that it does not apply unless you go out and buy a truck that does not exist yet. Therefore, not a relevant rule.

    Ah oh, what's this?

According to that rule, if it doesn't allow yard movement by override like I described, the EOBR is in violation.

    Here's another one.

Since the office people obviously don't understand how it's supposed to work, there's another violation.

Ah but you see, office people that are involved with the use ARE trained. I dont have any dealing with them. I do know that yard movement override is accomplished by distance and speed. I think 7/10ths of a mile and under 5mph will not trigger a transition to line 3.

Funny how you just knew office people had never seen these things before or knew anything about it.
