When you start paying for your own fuel, you'll be singing a different song.

<sarcasm> You know I'm so disapointed that they didn't turn them on this week for me like the message said they would. After all I was so eager to get started on them asap.</sarcasm>

I understand that some loads -you got no choice but run 10-11 hours. I really hate sitting though for me. I go crazy just sitting. LOL I still pull miles doin 8-10 hours--i just would hate to sit for 34--but thats just me :) I do days sometimes but only when i have to-my body too tired to run 11 hours everyday. LOL I guess it happens when age sits in :biggrin_2559:

The fuel manager was saying the same thing a couple weeks ago. What he doesn't know yet is that the O/O's leased with us that he was bragging about how their fuel mileage was so much higher than ours are flying down the road passing me like I'm sitting still, gunning it off the stop lights, and still getting that high mileage.

One of em passed me going south, hooked another load, and passed me again going back north while I was still 15 miles from the yard. All the while getting 2.6mpg better than my truck.

No doubt. If you're getting poorer fuel economy at slower speeds, then there's something wrong with the truck. Fuel is the low-hanging fruit in any ballance sheet - you work on that one because it dwarfs almost all of your other costs... it certainly is that way for me. A 10% decrease in my maintenance costs is peanuts compared to a 10% decrease in the fuel bill.

American Trucker... how would you like for your boss to walk up to you and hand you an 11-cpm raise tomorrow?

I have a question for swifties who have switched over to elogs. Is it set up so you can use the split sleeper berth effectively? I have been using the split sleeper berth on paper logs frequently and hope to be able to keep using the split sleeper when I switch to elogs. Thanks in advance for your help!

Qualcomm e-logs are programmed to deal effectively with split sleeper.

I am gonna respond to the OP's start of the thread,I did e-logs for 10 weeks at my last job,(which I left)but is was not because of the e-logs. I would have no problem doing this again, and I am convinced the one's who fight doing it,are the one's who want to continually run over hours, they can hedge on this issue all they want, still, that is what it comes down to.....Now,I am not going to cop a holier-than-thou attitude on this,of course I have run illegal, many, many times, and on e-logs,of course one will lose some money, however,on e-logs,one is almost guaranteed to be able to drive a big truck for as long as they want,vs.,driving illegal, being in a major accident,a little prison time, and good luck then finding another trucking job...Greed uncontrolled is,IMO,one of the 7 deadlies,if you know what I mean, literally.

I dunno, at this point they've been making me more money on staytime and layover. Sure they can cut your miles down but then one shipper runs you out of hours and there's a full extra day's pay for it. I'm doin all right with them and enjoying the extra sleep that I never could get before.
