That is what the real problem is in this industry.

Waiting in line for fuel, you are really on duty, not driving.

Waiting for load is actually something you are on duty.

If you were properly paid for this, you think you might correctly log it?

Hmm is this legal to do it like this? I log only when they start loading or Un loading me and stop at around 30 minutes now.

Those bills of lading just magically appear in your cab? Someone else opened and closed your doors? Secured your load?

BTW, you do know that a pre-trip inspection is not mandatory, don't you?

While I agree with your over all sentiment about pay, waiting to get loaded is not necessarily on-duty.

    In some extent it is.

Many times getting up to check on the status.

Walking back inside to check on it.

    I know.

I have spent 26 hours at the dock and had to get up every hour to check on the loading status.

    Meltom Thanks this.

They loaded it as they produced it. They had me on the rear dock side with no door. Only a light.

    No restroom either.

That right there is some bulls***!!!!!! No restroom for drivers, yet you expect them to sit there in the truck for 26+ hours? How could you NOT expect your dock area to smell like piss or bags of excrement on a hot day??

    :biggrin_25510:

That is some crap that needs to be fixed NOW! I'm not one for government sticking their fat bloated fingers into things (cause things usually turn to crap when they do), but this is absolutely ridiculous. And if the carriers won't do something about it, then somebody has to! The shipper would be the first to complain when they saw some driver pouring a bottle of piss onto their lot!

    No detention pay either.

Left that company right after that incident.

No detention pay after 26 hours with no bathroom? Glad you left them. This piss-poor treatment has to stop. Period. I wouldn't treat a dog like that.
