Slip seating is horrible. It takes 45 minutes just to sterilize the steering wheel, door handles, shifter, turn signal, radio buttons, light switch, etc from the last driver who spent his shift picking his nose, scratching himself, wiping his forehead, peeing without washing his hands, then touching everything in the truck. That doesn't include what happens to the seat after that meal of bean burritos. Plus breathing the air the guy was belching, coughing, smoking, sneezing in.

Change jobs; get an assigned truck.

Stay with your current company for at least 3 years ( if you can bear it) 1 year minimum. If you stay stay with a company for 1 to 3 years you show a excellent work history. Once you reach the 3 year mark go work for a private carrier - which is a maufacturer that has their own fleet. These fleets tend to pay their Drivers more, offer them better benifits ( matching 401K, profit sharing) and treat you better than most for - hire carriers. Wal-Mart's first year drivers average annual salary for a driver is $76,000.00 and flexible schedules. Private fleets tend to have tougher standards...but why settle for mediocrity? Be the best you can be and be properly compensated for it. My take - good luck!
