So I'm looking to get back into the OTR game and one of the companies I'm considering is May. I've been contacted by a recruiter but haven't been able to reach her when I've called back, so hopefully tomorrow when I have a day off....
Anyway, my biggest concern, considering where May's OC's are located, is hometime. Any of you drivers live in Ohio? For those of you who live elsewhere, how often do you get to the buckeye? I live in NE Ohio. Literally 5 minutes from I80/90, less than 30 from I71 and less than 45 from I77. I see May trucks on I80 from time to time, but I'm just trying to get a good gauge as to how often I can get back home. Planning on going 'homeless' and as such, I'm planning 3 weeks out minimum, and probably closer to 4-6 weeks out so I can take quality time off when I do get back.
Ohio drivers?

We have a lot freight that goes in and out of Ohio. 80 and 70 are big freight lanes for us. You should have no problem getting back home.

I figured as much. It is Ohio after all. Just wanted to hear it from a driver and not someone in a cushy office whose job it is to get my ### in the seat. Thanks

They hire in your area I was in orientation w a guy from there

One of the guys training at the school I attended hired on with them, so I realized they would hire me. Without an OC in the midwest though, I wanted reassurance of getting home with some consistency.
No matter. Doesn't seem May really wants to talk to me after all. Every time I call, I get voicemail and they haven't bothered to return my phone calls. I imagine if their recruiting dept. is that understaffed/overworked, something must be horribly wrong.
I plan on calling one last time tomorrow and hopefully they can at least tell me I suck and my services are not needed so I can move on to other offers on the table.
Thanks for the feedback fellas. -
Put in a quick app online and fill it out to the best of your ability. If you call the Denver terminal they put in a new phone system. Press 0 to talk to an operator or call the Brooks office and press 0 to talk to the operator.

Getting to OH will not be a problem at all. When I was 48 I thought OH was my new home. My GF (team driver) Lived in Massillion we/ I never had a single problem getting to OH.
I would take efon's advice and fill out the online app. I understand you may be in a financial situation but I will say this "some things are worth waiting for"

I waited a bit on May, and actually turned down two definite jobs, waiting to hear from May. I'm glad I did! I have had nothing but great experiences with all the staff at all the terminals. Hang in there...you'll be glad you did. Jennifer in Pensacola is who you need to deal with, as they would be your OC. I know she has been traveling lately, going to various schools recruiting. They have been expanding their operations the last few months

I agree 100 % with this comment. I knew I made a great choice in coming to May to begin with. The love they have showed me through the worst parts of my life just prove to me over and over again that I made the right choice.

Agreed in the very short time I've been here everyone has been great to work with. This seems to hold true no matter what terminal your at.
