I was changing mine that often. I bought a used 587 Peterbilt with a 450 Cummins and would have oil analysts done to check for excess metal in oil. The reports were coming back saying to go farther intervals in between oil changes. I now go around 25,000 miles. Analysis are still coming back good.

If that is the case then I never have to change my oil. I bought a 2012 587 Peterbilt with 545,000 miles on it two and a half years ago and have never had to add a drop of oil to it. When I first bought it I would do oil changes every 10-12k miles. Was also having oil analysis done to see what might be happening with motor since I bought it used. Reports were coming back clear but print out said allow more time between changes. I now go 25k miles between changes. Reports are still coming back clean, no oil consumption and truck is at about 800,000 miles.

At least on the DD15, some oil consumption before the next oil change is normal. Personally, I have never needed to add oil on mine.
