Check out what Detroit recommend for there diesel engine, 60 000 miles seems quite a lot with out a change. While it is true with some of the modern oils you can go far longer between oil changes, obviously some lube businesses want you to change your oil more often as its great for their business, for vehicle not doing the mileage then the time frame would expire before the mileage they recommend every 3 months although I'd go for 6 months, where as with a truck your doing around 800 miles per day so your miles will expire well before the months, as a general rule you should change your oil about every 7000 miles, 6 months or 400 hours which ever comes first, although some companies go up to 15 000 miles. Vehicles most at risk are those that do very low mileage as it does not allow the oil to get up to a good operating temperature which can cause condensation in the oil, there of course is no risk in this if your running a truck all day long.

Asphalt haulers use diesel fuel to clean their beds and keep the asphalt from sticking to their bed. On the outside. Although I've seen guys spray inside also.
I don't know about lubrication but it makes a good cleaner and degreaser. -
Volvo d13, I do every 20 k miles with synthetic and 15 k with semi (nobody has synthetic in Phoenix).
want to do oil sample and check.
In Europe everyone does it at 40-60 k miles 70-100 k km) with no problems -
2017 t680 Isx15 cm2350--595,000 miles on it
I change my oil and fuel filters anytime I get home and have over 10k miles on it. I use rotella t4 15w40 and send Blackstone a tube every few changes. So far Blackstone has shown everything is great, $30 well spent imo.
Now, if I could only find that ###### coolant leak...God prefers Diesels Thanks this. -
Schneider runs that engine. They do it once a year.

I had a 2016 DD16, I did synthetic oil changes with analysis every 500 hours for 5 and 1/2 years. Operation was severe duty, heavy haul, 40% plus idle time and lots of gravel roads.
Oil results were great over the time I had it. One time after getting the valves adjusted in the winter the next oil analysis showed a great increase in potassium. They use potassium salt on the roads here as there are a lot of potash mines in Saskatchewan. I found the valve set mechanic forgot to tighten the clamp on the air intake to the turbo. So it was sucking in some road spray. Next oil change the numbers returned to normal.AModelCat and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
Id change the oil every 20-30 minutes, it cant hurt.

15k miles, with Mystik 15/50 synthetic. Black stone reports been clean so far. Older truck with 550k on the inframe. Oil is cheap, and I can have it swapped in 20 mins or so in my shop.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
