For people with older engines from 80s-90s it's piece of mind. When the truck needs about a gallon, or the fill mark usually 15-17k for me it's time to change it.

I do everything at 20k now but before I was 10k interval guy. I use the cheapest oil I can find when it's time for a drain too but I buy all my fuel and oil filters in bulk and keep them stocked.Bigtruckdrivah Thanks this. -
Someone else did mention changing the filters 1st than running it some more. Besides the newer stuff with a bypass system the old mack's have a really good filtration system with 2 filters and a spinner. Probably could go 30-35k easily.
