Most auto parts stores, truck shops, heavy equipment shops etc will take it. Most don't even charge for taking it.

I used to leave the filled jugs in front of garages. Now with cameras I wouldn't.

I know a guy who used to dig a hole to pour it in then just bury it. You’d probably get life in prison now if you tried that.

Start asking at local shops, including auto shops (garages). A lot of them have a waste oil heater.

3 Advance Auto Parts in my town. 2 won't take more than a few gallons, the third will take all I have and don't care at all. I use the back door nowadays. Gotta get to know people.

    1) if you have a garage, that you use as your workshop, check on the cost of waste oil heaters, and keep yourself warm during those cold winters.

    2) check with any still in business gas stations, autozone stores, and maybe other types of repair garages that take in used oil. beware however, some may charge you a fee for taking it, as they have to pay to have thier tanks pumped out.

that's what has been happening here in my state. don;t know if they still charge to accept it.

Yeah, we learned our lesson there. When I lived in S.Central Wis., years ago, people not far away started having Trichloroethelene showing up in their well water. Turns out, several years prior, a farmer let Chrysler Outboard of Hartford, Wis, bury hundreds of drums of the used degreaser, as the drums rusted, it filtered into the ground water. Someone told me, a gallon of oil pollutes a million gallons of water.

Ya that’s a bad deal. You know I’m sure there’s still lots of environmental damage, but people for the most part are doing a lot better. I was talking to a man the other day about how people used to throw trash out their car windows and never think twice about it. He said nowadays I’d feel bad to throw a gum wrapper out the window. It’s the same way for me. I used to not think twice about littering, now I can’t hardly leave orange peeling on the ground. I guess not all changes are bad.
