Ok...be honest

Ain't nobody harder on me than I am. I'm still kicking myself for that extra pull up I did on the cdl exam over a year ago LOL

 

About 50 to 60% of my pick up and deliveries are on busy streets or residential neighborhoods. I love it when I nail it the first time but if I have to back up or pull forward again to avoid a ditch, mailbox, or flower pot I just think back on my instructors wise words when I'm blocking traffic or trying to hit a dock.
" Fûck em, let em wait, you have the right of weight."

 

I'm hard on myself but I also get out the truck and do a happy dance and yell "" did u see that"" I'm a BOSS!! When I do good.

 

Rarely hard on myself, just knowing I did it without hitting anything is good. Otoh when I do a tough one perfect you can bet im grinning ear to ear.

My all time favorite was a blind side in st louis driving my old classic xl. All sorts of crap around the hole. Schneider driver jumped out to spot me. Nailed it with no input from her and no pull ups. Dead straight. She accused me of showing off.

 

There are times when I can be hard on myself.....But I just grab my shovel and hammer, and get to work straightening that crumpled traffic/stop sign back into shape, then digging a new hole to set them back up. But you can be danged sure I use a carpenter's square and laser level to make absolutely sure it is exactly 90 degrees perpendicular to the roadway.....

 

Trucker 101... If no one saw it and you can FIX it.... It didn't happen.

Some of the worst backing jobs I've done are in the biggest dock spaces. 100 doors, not a single trailer. Enough room to U turn 3 tractors side by side in front of the docks. May take me a few trys to get straight with the door.

I used to get upset when I was having trouble, whether it be from to tight a dock or whatever. But the more I do this job, the more I realize that backing is such a tiny % of the time I spend on the road that it isn't worth making the rest of my time so miserable. I just laugh at myself, and keep going. As long as I don't run anything over I'm peachy.

 

I use to get pretty bent but after driving for 5 years now I have come to except there will be days it looks like I have been driving for 2 weeks when it comes to backing up now I just laugh it off and do it again until it's right.
